MEDIA RELATIONS
We offer a range of courses to help you get the most out of your dealings with the media whether you’re appearing on radio or television, in print or online, live or pre-recorded.
Our broadcasting media workshop to help people stay in control of the message was the first course we delivered when we started ACM Training more than 28 years ago and it’s still just as popular today although naturally it’s evolved to reflect the dramatic changes there have been in the media landscape such as the social web, 24 hour rolling news channels and, of course Covid-19.
We’re highly experienced at helping organisations handle the media in both good times and bad and our client list reflects this. We train the emergency services, universities, the NHS, government departments and local authorities in crisis communications and regularly contribute to multi-agency emergency planning exercises by providing highly realistic simulated broadcast and social media input through our socialmediatestbed.com service.
And we’re just as keen to help smaller organisations - particularly in the voluntary sector - craft news releases to spread the good news or draw up social media strategies to help boost their financial and/or social capital.
Like all our courses they can be delivered in a variety of ways from inexpensive, self-guided online modules, through to trainer-led sessions either just for you or with other learners in a public or private group delivered online or in-person.
Our media training courses are facilitated by Richard Uridge. If you'd like to talk to your trainer for a no-obligation chat to discuss our general approach or learn more about a particular course and its aims and objectives email richard@acmtraining.co.uk and he'll set up a Zoom meeting.

ADVANCED MEDIA TRAINING
For press and PR people, heads of departments/services and senior managers who already have a good understanding of the interview process – in particular the importance of identifying key messages and “selling” those messages through techniques such as repetition. The workshop will build on existing skills and benefit anybody who may have to represent their organisation in times of emergency and/or crisis. Participants are likely to have been interviewed many times before on radio and by the print media but perhaps have less experience in front of camera.

BROADCAST MEDIA 1-2-1
A hugely practical and highly effective online workshop where, with no more than three other delegates, you'll learn how to: stay in control of media interviews; discover techniques to focus on your key messages instead of worrying too much about the questions you're asked; and find ways to deliver those messages in a clear, concise and compelling manner. All without sounding like a slippery politician!

CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS
This course is aimed at individuals and organisations who may have to deal with the media during a crisis, whether that event is externally triggered – for example, by a so-called “act of God” – or internally by some kind of error, omission or malpractice. Participants are likely to be experienced in media and communications or hold senior management positions. During a crisis their roles may be public-facing or behind-the-scenes. Attendance is strongly recommended for staff from organisations such as local authorities, health trusts and housing associations that have a legal obligation to plan and prepare for emergencies under the Civil Contingencies Act.
